reviewer application

Gay Romance Reviews wouldn’t be possible without the enthusiasm and dedication of our reviewers! If you think you have what it takes to be a GRR reviewer, please fill out the application form. Each application will be carefully reviewed and invitations to join are sent out on a weekly basis.

Our team has the highest follow-through rating anywhere, and that's achieved through a combination of having the best reviewers and the best behind-the-scenes support. We are always open to adding new reviewers to the team, so if you're interested, we look forward to reviewing your application.

Why should I apply to join the Gay Romance Reviews team?

Because you love reading and/or listening to gay romance! Because you want to support your favourite authors and discover new ones! Because you love free books!

Do I get paid for reviewing?

Nope. This is against Amazon’s Terms of Service. You do, however, get access to some incredible reviewing opportunities with no cost to you—that’s reward enough.

What do I do if I didn’t like a book that I received?

We know that not every book will be a winner with every reviewer, and that’s okay. If you’ve read a book you didn’t enjoy, you can post an honest review or you can choose to opt out of reviewing. As long as we know that’s what you’re doing, it won’t put you on the naughty list.

I don’t like reading books of a certain genre - will I be expected to read them?

Not at all. We know that readers have different tastes, so we build our team with reviewers who love a bit of everything. If a title is offered that you’re not interested in, just ignore the sign-up and wait for the next one.

Is there a minimum number of ARCs I have to review to stay on the team?

No. We know that everyone’s schedule is different, and the number of hours people have to read and review varies. As long as you review the titles you request, that’s all that matters.

What is the ‘naughty' list?

We constantly track who is and isn’t reviewing, and reviewers who fail to follow through on multiple reviews will be put on our 'naughty' list. Depending on the situation, this could mean fewer reviewing opportunities, a decreased likelihood of getting the books you’re interested in, or even removal from the team. The key to a great relationship between GRR and our reviewers is communication.

Where do I have to post my reviews?

Our primary goal is to have reviews posted to Amazon, but we know that not every reviewer is able to post there. If you are unable to post to Amazon, we’ll ask you to post wherever you’re able. (Bookbub, Goodreads, etc.) Some books will have a ‘wide release’ and be available on multiple sites (iTunes, Kobo, B&N, etc.) and you’ll be encouraged to review wherever possible, but it’s not a requirement.
